Membership Application
When you become a member of the Maine
Society of Land Surveyors, you join fellow surveyors working hard to enhance
and protect our profession. We offer you the following benefits:
•
Regular and Associate Members of MSLS are
automatically members of the National Society of Professional Surveyors and
entitled to all the privileges and benefits of NSPS membership along with
exclusive insurance programs.
See NSPS.
You are also represented on the national level by a NSPS Director we elect.
• MSLS members benefit from
our organization’s efforts in monitoring and taking action on legislation
that affects our professional practice in Maine. Your publication,
FieldNotes, and email updates keep you apprised of our activity on your
behalf. Elected Executive Committee members, in coordination with the
Society’s legal representative, keep a constant watch on legislative and
regulatory activity.
• Our local chapters and
state society collaborate on Fall, Spring, and Annual meetings that offer
continuing education credits in topic areas that are current, interesting,
and relevant to our profession. The MSLS Annual Meeting additionally
features a trade show and opportunity to connect with vendors to learn about
the latest surveying tools and technology. Additional education offerings
that can help your business practice are also occasionally offered.
• Your voice is amplified
when you join us. You have a vote in the Society’s direction, priorities,
and governance. You are represented by MSLS liaisons with other
professional organizations and government entities. We attend all Board of
Licensure for Professional Land Surveyors meetings on your behalf.
• We contribute to the future
of surveying. We provide scholarships to students studying to join our
profession and support active SVT programs at the University of Maine and
Central Maine Community College. With Trig-Star and speakers, we reach out
to Maine high school students.
One of the greatest benefits of any professional organization is the
exchange of ideas and discussion that occurs at our many Society and local
chapter informal opportunities to converse and share experiences. You will
find our members welcoming and eager to talk surveying!
