Project Surveyor

Main-Land is currently seeking candidates for full time Project Surveyor.  Requirements for this position include 0-4 years of experience as a licensed land surveyor (or 6 or more years combined education/experience with the ability to become licensed) and knowledge of survey equipment, such as robotic total stations, data collection, GPS, AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microstation.  Work will include project management and overseeing other survey staff on a variety of projects.  This position will include both field (solo or team) and office work with an emphasis on office work.


Licensure in other states such as New Hampshire and/or& Vermont or the ability to obtain a license in these states is a plus.  Experience with GIS implementation/development or photogrammetry would also be a desirable asset but is not required.

Site Survey Adjunct Faculty & Curriculum Developer – Fall 2017 Semester


QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Construction Management Technology or a relevant Associate’s degree along with a minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in construction site layout and planning is required. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with a specialization in quantitative land survey, teaching experience, and a working knowledge of environmental principles in site evaluation and design are desirable. Other combinations of professional licenses, certifications, education, and experience will be considered. Demonstrated professionalism and interpersonal skills in collaborating with colleagues and directing students are essential.
RESPONSIBILITIES: To provide instruction that covers introduction to surveying principles, equipment, and terms. Provide the student with an understanding of surveying and where it fits into a construction project. The course covers the principles of measurements of distances, elevation, and angles. It includes basic error theory in measurements and calculations, traverse calculations, and basic principles of surveying and mapmaking. Lab work: either instructor demonstration or hands-on student activities that meet outlined learning objectives.

SALARY: Salary and benefits commensurate with the Agreement between the Maine Community College System Trustees and the MSEA Adjunct Faculty Bargaining Unit.

firm. We employ one of the largest survey staffs in the state with a reputation for quality work and use of innovative survey technologies. We are currently seeking candidates for a Project Surveyor.


Successful candidate must be licensed (P.L.S.) and will oversee all survey aspects of various projects working independently or in coordination with other Project Managers and survey staff.
